Bună!
so updates for this week:
-Started level 2 (direction level) including learning 20 common buildings, 4 simple directions and how to ask for them.
-Created simple models for each building to dual-code the names
-Temporarily made it so you can choose which level to start on (and you can go from lvl 1-> 2 if you complete it) to allow playing/testing of new content!
Tech things:
grammar things:
-Had a few people mention the title of my game is wrong, though others have said otherwise, would be nice to have an actual romanian just quickly tell me whether my possession positioning/word is correct?
-I do have 'the' for buildings stored and ready to use (i.e hotelul, for 'the hotel') but I'l lleave that for next stage
inner thoughts:
-Now I started this week with a bit of a debate on how I'd make my town, really there were 3 options: navmesh, make a grid and pathfind or do some cheeky trigger + list of instructions to move my vehicle (currently an arrow) around. I went for the trigger shenanigans mostly because I don't think I quite need the complexity of making a grid and pathfinding (atlhough I feel like it could come in handy if i want to random gen the town map in future). I also made it too small for navmesh to properly bake on it so that option went out the window.
As to why I chose directions? well I'm thinking about what set of topics would be handy knowledge to learn from the get go and being able to figure out where to go is pretty handy I'd say (also my idea for stage 4 of the level is oh i gotta make it.
Also the level is only about half finished, it's missing the horror element (so excited to get that made) and more complex directions (although i'm iffy on that becuase that might require me making a grid to store details on nodes aaaah).
And another thing that's been on the list now is to make this a roguelike. partially because someone learning 25 verbs for the first level is too much work in one go and means someone would be happy to do the same level if new things were added incrementally (also good scaffolding) so once level 2 is finished I'll be going back, refactoring and making it roguelike.
Also sadly(?) I'm on vacation for the next two weeks (actually kind of annoying I'm in a real mood to code like no tomorrow to get what's in my mind on-script) so no updates until end of march!
Pe curand!
